Max loves to eat, like, all the time
So he’s not exactly “new” as he co-founded the company after all, but we thought it would be cool to do a quick blurb for every Cradler, new or old. 😊
The story of how the founding team ended up in Auckland is quite amazing, actually. Back in 2016 when James was traveling the world and still conceiving the idea of a phone system that could help people “Talk Like Humans”, he made a pit stop in San Francisco to visit Max, who, at the time, worked at the Xero SF office. It was in SF that James and I met coincidentally and not long after, James went to Denver to try to convince Todd (our first co-founder and CTO) to build the initial MVP (minimum viable product). That trip, in many ways, had the stars all align as all four of our live were forever altered.
Max took over from Todd soon after he and his wife, Jill, had their first child. It wasn’t easy seeing Todd take a back but he had built an amazing MVP and foundation, which made the leadership transition smooth as a baby’s bum. Max soon moved back to Auckland from SF and not long after his girlfriend, Alex, made the move as well. It’s safe to say that many sacrifices were made in order to make Cradle happen and we as a collective feel very grateful to be here building something that we hope can make a real impact in people’s lives.
So what does Max have to say about his experience so far:
1. How do you feel about your experience thus far working at Cradle?
It’s been very busy and chaotic at times, but I love the energy and what we’re building.
2. What’s been your favourite project/part of working here?
For sure it has been all of the learnings, especially in the areas of new technology and creatively solving customers problems.
Max and Alex looking dashing
3. Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
I see myself working my ass off and coping with the scale of our growing customer base. And also scaling up the team while ensuring the tech platform keeps up.
4. What do you like to do outside of work?
I spend a lot of my time windsurfing, going to the gym and sipping on fine wine.
5. What are you looking forward to, personally, in the next 12 months?
Serious innovation, not just building boring phone system features but using cutting edge tech such as ML to really change how businesses use their phone system.
