How to do a blind transfer

A blind transfer sends the caller straight to a teammate and ends your part of the call immediately.

A blind transfer is the fastest hand-over. You pick a teammate, hit transfer, and the caller is sent to that teammate's phone. You're off the call straight away — there's no introduction step.

Before you start

  • You're on an inbound or outbound external call. Internal team calls can't be transferred.
  • You know which teammate the caller should go to. If they don't pick up, the caller is sent to that teammate's voicemail, so make sure the destination is appropriate.
  • New to transfers? Start with Transferring calls — overview to compare blind, cold, and warm.

Steps

  1. While you're on the call, click the Transfer button.
  2. Search for the teammate by name or scroll the team list. For example, you might pick Tom Henderson (Partner) for Sarah Mitchell from Henderson & Co Accountants on +64 9 555 0101.
  3. Choose Blind as the transfer type.
  4. Click Transfer.

The call leaves your phone immediately. Cradle rings the teammate.

What the caller hears

  • The teammate's phone ringing.
  • If the teammate answers, the call connects.
  • If the teammate doesn't answer or declines, the caller goes to that teammate's voicemail.

What you should see

Your call ends and you're returned to the dial pad. The transfer appears in your call log with the teammate's name as the destination.

If it doesn't work

  • The Transfer button is hidden. You're on an internal team call. Cradle doesn't transfer team-to-team calls.
  • The teammate's name doesn't appear in the list. They may not be set up in Cradle. Ask your admin.
  • You wanted to brief the teammate first. Blind is the wrong choice — see Cold transfer or Warm transfer.
