Signing out and switching accounts
Most people never need to sign out. If you do — to switch to a different work account, or to clear a 'user is not authorised' error — here's how.
You generally don't need to sign out of Cradle. The two reasons you would are:
- You want to sign in as a different Google or Microsoft work account (a new job, a different organisation).
- You've seen user is not authorised after your Cradle admin removed your access, and you need to clear the stored session before signing in again.
The control you want is Logout and Clear Data in the Help menu. It signs you out and clears the local credential cache in one go, so the next sign-in is clean.
Before you start
- Finish any active call.
- If you're switching to a different work account, have the new account's email and password to hand.
Windows
- With Cradle in focus, press the Alt key to show the menu bar.
- Open the Help menu.
- Click Logout and Clear Data.
- Confirm when prompted.
- Cradle returns to the welcome screen. Sign in with the account you want.
macOS
- With Cradle in focus, open the Help menu from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Click Logout and Clear Data.
- Confirm when prompted.
- Cradle returns to the welcome screen. Sign in with the account you want.
Linux
The Help menu sits in the application window itself.
- Open the Help menu in the Cradle window.
- Click Logout and Clear Data.
- Confirm when prompted.
- Sign in with the account you want.
What you should see
After Logout and Clear Data, the dial pad disappears and you land back on the welcome screen with the** Continue with Google** and Continue with Microsoft buttons. There's no cached session, so the next sign-in goes through Google or Microsoft fresh.
If it doesn't work
- The welcome screen comes straight back to your old account. The keychain or Credential Manager entry didn't clear. Follow the platform steps in What do I do if Cradle won't log in? to clear stored credentials manually.
- You see "user is not authorised" after signing in. Your admin has removed you from the organisation, or your licence has been revoked. Ask them to re-invite you. See I can't sign in to Cradle.
